Employee Spotlight: Sydney Longford

Manager, Facilities | 6.5 Years at TouchBistro

Tell us about your career journey here at TouchBistro, what has it been like for you?

Growth is the best way to define the years that I’ve been with TouchBistro. I started as an Administrative Assistant at the reception desk, and with the help of my managers, I found a niche in the company as we continued to grow. Today, I help run the TouchBistro offices as the Manager, Facilities.

What makes TouchBistro’s culture special to you?

Our employees’ perseverance! Many are connected to the restaurant and service industry in some way. They understand that running a restaurant is a lifestyle, not just a job.

What is your proudest accomplishment in your career to date?

I would say staying true to myself throughout the advancement of my career. It’s easy to lose sight of things if you are just focused on the end goal. I also love to make people smile.

What inspires you about the future of the restaurant industry?

For me, seeing how quickly the service industry has adapted with the help of technology to the changes in the post-pandemic landscape. You can really see that restaurateurs are built tough!

What goals are you currently working towards outside of work?

I want to spend more time with family, meet new people, and devote time to my financial savings. Having a balanced and secure life is incredibly important to me.

What’s your favourite type of cuisine?

My favourite type of food is South-East Asia cuisine! Pad Krapow Gai and curries are my go-to homemade meals.

What is one thing that you wouldn’t eat as a child that you now enjoy?

Roasted Broccoli – your taste buds really change as you get older.

What is a fun fact about you, which most people wouldn’t know?

Prior to TouchBistro, I worked in the costumes department office for the television series “Star Trek: Discovery” to help create the pilot episode.
