TouchBistro’s John Florinis Named to the Electronic Transactions Association’s Forty Under 40

February 26, 2019

February 26, 2019 TORONTO — The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) has named John Florinis, Vice President of Payments at TouchBistro, to its 2019 Forty Under 40 class, recognizing him among gamechangers at the intersection of payments and technology. He was selected by the ETA for his actions and leadership in driving the payments technology industry forward.

“John leverages his extensive expertise in overseeing our global payment operations and strategy,” says Alex Barrotti, founder and CEO of TouchBistro. “His experience on both the issuing and acquiring side of payments has been invaluable in the evaluation and implementation of emerging and alternative payment technology at TouchBistro and will have a long-term, positive impact on the restaurant industry.”

While the payments industry is generally slow to embrace the newest concepts and technologies, John has been a dynamic influence on advancing major players and segments toward adopting the latest technology and business models that are driving the industry into the future.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a gamechanger by my esteemed peers in the ETA,” says Florinis. “The future of payments is promising, with exciting technology developments on the horizon. I look forward to taking payments to new frontiers within the restaurant vertical and I’m truly excited to do so with a great group of talented and dynamic colleagues at TouchBistro.”

Prior to TouchBistro, John was at MasterCard where he had global responsibility in delivering digital payments solutions to technology solution providers and merchants across various verticals. Prior to that role, John was part of the Moneris team that built the first Canadian acquirer-driven SaaS-based retail POS solution. He also helped build the company’s integrated POS software channel, which provided added value across multiple industry segments while integrating payments.

ETA solicited nominations for the 2019 Forty Under 40 class from across the payments industry, seeking talented payments executives under 40. The final group was selected from ETA members, TRANSACT exhibitors, and industry leaders. The 2018 Forty Under 40 class and the ETA Awards and Recognition committee selected winners based on the nominees’ impact on the payments industry and their professional character.

The 2019 Forty Under 40 will be featured in the Spring issue of ETA’s magazine, Transaction Trends. They will also be honored at TRANSACT, the premier event for payment industry professionals, taking place from May 30 – April 2, 2019 in Las Vegas. View the full Forty Under 40 list.
