Updating Your TouchBistro Menu

Print

When you update your menu in TouchBistro, you need to upload the updated menu to Checkmate and work with your Checkmate representative to ensure changes are properly reflected in Checkmate, TouchBistro, and your third party online ordering service (like UberEATS). Depending on what you’ve changed, the order of steps can be different. This section will lay out the steps you need to follow.

Note: Changes should never be made during service hours. If you make changes to menu items in your third-party online ordering service and Checkmate has not completed the re-mapping to TouchBistro, orders sent to TouchBistro will be automatically declined. You will be instructed to complete the order on your third party online ordering service’s tablet and enter the order as a non-integrated takeout order in TouchBistro.

Chapter 2. Changing a Price

If you’ve only changed the prices of items (up or down), do the following

1. Go to your third party online ordering system’s portal and access the area that allows you to edit your menu. For example, in UberEATS, you’d access your Restaurant Manager portal. Change the prices.

2. Set the new price in TouchBistro.

3. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menus and upload your menu to Checkmate.

If you change prices, you want those immediately reflected to your customers ordering via their online ordering app. TouchBistro will always use the incoming menu item price from the online ordering system.

Chapter 3. Adding a New Menu Item

If you want to add a new item to your menu, do the following.

1. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menu Items. Add the new menu to the appropriate category.

2. Ensure Show in Online Ordering Menu is enabled.

3. Ensure that category has been included in the Menu enabled for online ordering.

4. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menus and upload your menu to Checkmate.

5. Go to your third party online ordering system’s portal and add the new menu item.

A customer order that includes a menu item that exists on your third party online ordering system but not in TouchBistro will be force declined in TouchBistro. You will be prompted to accept the order in the third party online ordering service’s tablet. You need to ensure it first exists in TouchBistro and then in your online ordering system so it can be properly mapped by Checkmate.

Chapter 4. Removing a Menu Item

If want to remove a menu item in TouchBistro, do the following:

1. Go to your third party online ordering system’s portal and remove the menu item or hide it if that option is available.

2. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menu Items and delete the menu item.

3. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menus and upload your menu to Checkmate.

You want to first ensure the removed menu item is immediately unavailable as an ordering option to customers using the online ordering app before removing it in TouchBistro.

A customer order that includes a menu item that has been deleted in TouchBistro will be force declined in TouchBistro. You will be prompted to cancel the order in the third party online ordering service’s tablet.

Chapter 5. Changing a Menu Item Name or Moving It to a New Menu Category

If you want to change a menu item name (for example, you’ve corrected a typo) or move it to a new menu category (for example, you move a croissant from a dessert category to a sides category), do the following:

1. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menu Items and rename the item or move it to a new Menu Category.

2. Access Admin | Admin Settings | Menu | Menus and upload your menu to Checkmate.

3. Go to your third party online ordering system’s portal and either change the name or move it to the appropriate category in the portal’s menu editing system.
