Setting up your Moneris Payment Gateway – USA

Chapter 1. Verify Your Restaurant Name Does Not Contain an Ampersand

Note: Moneris uses your Restaurant Profile information to process payments. If your restaurant profile name has an ampersand (&) this will result in a processing error. Visit the Restaurant screen and edit the name of your venue in the Name field and change & to “and”.

Chapter 3. Setting Up a Moneris Mobile Card Reader

Section 1. Activate your eSelect Plus Merchant Account

In order to use a mobile card reader, you will need to activate your eSelect Plus merchant account:

1. Visit the eSelect Plus Activation page.

2. Enter your Merchant ID and Store ID, and follow the instructions to activate your account.

3. Moneris will send you an approval/welcome email.

Before you setup TouchBistro access your Moneris approval/welcome email.

The Terminal ID (referred to as Terminal ID/ECR in TouchBistro) and eSelect plus Store ID will be required for your TouchBistro setup.

Section 3. Generate API token for TouchBistro payment setup

Next you need to generate an API token

1. Visit https://esplus.moneris.com/usmpg/index.php and login.

3. Click Admin | Store Settings to generate an API token.

3. Record this API token alongside your Terminal ID (also called Terminal ID/ECR in TouchBistro) and Store ID for use in TouchBistro setup.

Section 4. Configuring TouchBistro

1. Open your restaurant on TouchBistro.

2. Log in as Admin.

3. Tap Admin | Admin Settings in the top right hand corner.

4. Tap Payment Gateways under Settings.

5. Tap Moneris to enable it as your payment gateway. Ensure there’s a checkmark monusaimage005 Setting up your Moneris Payment Gateway USA in the Moneris cell row.

6. Tap Setup.

7. Tap the eSELECTplus tab.

8. Ensure your card reader is connected. If you are using an audio card reader, ensure the volume is turned all the way up on the iPad.

9. Select your location: U.S.

10. Enter the Terminal ID, Store ID (from the welcome letter, illustrated above), and API token that you obtained from Moneris.

11. Tap Done to exit the Moneris setup screen.

12. Tap Options.

13. Tap Batch Summary.

14. You should get a screen that looks like the one above (which initially will have all $0 results).

15. Tap Default Card Swipe Action to select if you want the customer to sign on the screen or sign a printed credit card slip.

Section 5. Create/Open Bar Tabs by Swiping Card

If want TouchBistro to populate bar tabs by swiping a credit card enable Create/Open Bar Tabs by Swiping Card. If you are a pro user, this setting is local to individual iPads. Hence, you can enable this on an iPad used at the bar and have it disabled for iPads used tableside.  If you later transfer the tab to a table, the name captured by the swipe will be carried over to the table.

Chapter 4. Configuring Your Moneris eSelect Plus Hosted Pay Settings

Moneris offers a hosted pay solution. That is, when a payment needs to be processed, one is directed to a page hosted by Moneris to process the actual payment details. TouchBistro supports payments by this method as well.

Section 1. Configuring Your Account with Moneris

Before you set up TouchBistro to accept hosted pay page payments, you need to first set up your hosted pay page details on the Moneris site. Locate the welcome email Moneris sent to you with your Username, Store ID, and password.

Follow the steps below:

1. Visit https://esplus.moneris.com/usmpg/.

2. Log in to eSelectPlus using your Username, Store ID, and Password from the welcome email.

3. Click on Admin at the top.

4. Click on Hosted Paypage Config at the top.

5. Click on Generate a New Configuration.

6. Note the ps_store_id  (sometimes referred to as the HPP_ID) and hpp_key codes generated. You will need these for your TouchBistro configuration.

7. Enter the following information under Basic Configuration:

8. Click Save Changes.

9. Additional options will become available. Click Configure Appearance.

10. Scroll down to the Hosted Paypage Input Fields section. Ensure all options are un-selected and then click Save Appearance Settings.

Section 2. Configuring TouchBistro

1. Open your restaurant on TouchBistro.

2. Log in as Admin.

3. Tap Admin | Admin Settings in the top right hand corner.

4. Tap Payment Gateways under Settings.

5. Tap on Moneris and ensure that a check mark appears in the cell row.

6. Tap Setup.

7. Enter the ps_store_id in the HPP_ID field. Enter the hpp_key in the HPP Key field.

8. Tap Done.

Chapter 5. Testing Your Setup

1. Scroll to the bottom of your payment setup page.

2. Tap Test Payment Gateway.

3. Tap Untested next to each feature you support and follow the on-screen prompts.
