Setting Up the Chase iWL220

Chapter 1. Requirements

The iWL220 is available for TouchBistro Pro users only (using multiple iPads and the Mac Pro server). The iWL220 is not available if you are a standard (one iPad) or multi-standard (more than 1 iPad but not connected via the Pro server software).

Before you begin, ensure your Mac computer is updated to at least the latest version of OS X El Capitan.

Chapter 2. Connecting the Hardware

Ensure you plug the base station into a power source. Your base station communicates to your PIN pad over Bluetooth. However, the setup between the PIN pad and base station is configured automatically. There is no need to authorize any Bluetooth devices on your Mac server or your iPads. One base station can be used to communicate with up to five PIN pads.

Section 1. To Your Router

If you have a free LAN port on your supported router you can connect your base station in this manner:

1. Ensure you have a CAT5 Ethernet cable in the WAN port connecting to your Internet modem.

2. Run a CAT5 Ethernet cable between the base station‚ Ethernet port and any free LAN port on the router.

Section 2. To a Switch

It is probably more typical your router has no more free LAN ports and you require an Ethernet switch:

1. Ensure you have a CAT5 Ethernet cable in the WAN port connecting to your Internet modem.

2. Run a CAT5 Ethernet cable between the base station‚ Ethernet port and any free LAN port on your switch (all ports on your switch are LAN ports).

3. Run a CAT5 Ethernet cable from a free LAN port on your router to any free LAN port on your switch (all ports on your switch are LAN ports).

Chapter 3. Setup on TouchBistro

1. Tap Admin | Admin Settings.

2. Tap Payment Gateways.

3. Tap Chase Merchant Services to enable it. Ensure there’s a Checkmark next to it.

4. Tap the associated Setup option.

5. Scroll down and tap Add iWL220 Terminal.

6. Retrieve the Terminal ID from the back of the iWL220. It should be the bottom string of numbers and letters on the barcode sticker.

7. In the Enter Terminal ID dialog box enter the Terminal ID from the back of the iWL220. Entry is case sensitive. Also do not include the – (dash) character. So if the Terminal ID on the barcode sticker is WL213341-PT013310, enter WL213341PT013310. Tap Add Terminal.

8. Enable Automatically Close Table After Payments. Tap Done.

9. After this, make sure you restart your Pro Server on your Mac computer. Simply select TouchBistro Pro Server | Quit TouchBistroServer and then relaunch the app.

10. After the Pro Server restarts note the IP Address (10.0.1.99). Ignore the Port (1337) number.

Chapter 4. Setup on the iWL220

1. Ensure you’re at the integrated Ready screen.

2. Press the # key on card reader.

3. Press 1 to select Comms Setup.

4. Enter your Manager Password. If your password uses letters, use the F key on the keypad to change your number to a letter. For example, to get P press 7 then F key until a capital P appears. Press the green Enter button when you’ve entered your manager passcode. Chase should have given you a default password.

5. On the TGI Client IP Address screen, use the keypad to enter the Pro server’s 10.0.1.99 IP address. Use the # key on the PINpad to enter the dot operators between the numbers. Press the green Enter button when you’ve entered the IP address.

6. On the TGI Client Port screen, leave the port set to 1338. Press the green Enter button.

7. On the Sec TGI Client IP Address screen, use the keypad to enter the Pro server’s 10.0.1.99 IP address. Use the # key on the PINpad to enter the dot operators between the numbers. Press the green Enter button when you’ve entered the IP address.

8. On the Sec TGI Client Port screen, leave the port set to 1338. Press the green Enter button.

9. You will be returned to the Admin Menu. Press the red Cancel button to return to the ready screen.

10. Ensure you’re logged in as admin on TouchBistro. From the iWL220 ready screen enter your admin passcode. For example, 1234. Press the green Enter button.

11. Over on your Mac computer running the Pro Server, you will now be prompted to allow access by the Chase iWL220 . Enter your Mac computer’s password and click Always Allow. (Sometimes after updating Pro Server to a new version, you may be prompted again to allow the iWL220 to access your privateKey. If so, reenter your Mac computer’s password and click Always Allow.)

You are now ready to start taking payments with this device.

Chapter 5. Review Your Default Settings

Your iWL220 should come set up with the proper defaults. However, it’s important to check:

1. From the Ready screen, press the left-most function key.

2. The Chase Merchant Services screen will indicate you’re in Standalone Mode. You can press the left-most function key at any time to return to integrated mode.

3. Press the # key on card reader to enter the Admin Menu.

4. Press 4 on the PINpad to select Maintenance.

5. Press 1 on the PINpad to select Download.

6. Press 0 on the PINpad to select Configure.

7. Ensure the next several screens are set as follow:

8. Press the red Cancel button several times to return to the standalone Ready screen.

9. Press the left-most function key to return to the integrated Ready screen.

 

10. After ensuring you’re on the integrated Ready screen, press the # key.

 

11. Press 2 to select iPay@Table Setup.

 

12. Enter your Manager Password. If you password uses letters, use the F key on the keypad to change your number to a letter. For example, to get P press 7 then F key until a capital P appears. Press the green Enter button when you’ve entered your manager passcode. Chase should have given you a default password.

13. There are 4 visible pay at table settings.

 

14. Use the right-most function keys to scroll down.

15. There are four additional pay-at-table settings.

16. The default settings should be:

17. Press the red Cancel button several times to return to the integrated Ready screen.

Section 1. Download

After reviewing your settings, you need to force a download on your iWL220. If you return to any of the screens in the steps, you likewise need to follow the steps below to force a download.

1. From the Ready screen, press the left-most function key. This will put you in Standalone mode.

2. The Chase Merchant Services screen will indicate you’re in Standalone mode. You can press the left-most function key at any time to return to integrated mode.

3. Press the # key on card reader to enter the Admin Menu.

4. Press 4 on the keypad to select Maintenance.

5. Press 1 on the keypad to select Download.

6. Press 1 on the keypad to select Download.

7. Your iWL220 will start the download. It will reboot a couple of times during the process. This can take up to 10 minutes.

8. Press the left-most function key to return to the integrated Ready screen.

Chapter 6. Before You Begin

You will need to enter a server passcode to accept payment. This is the same passcode the server uses to log into TouchBistro. Server passcodes can be found on the Edit Staff screen. Note: the iWL220 will not accept a one or two-digit passcode. If you have any staff members assigned 1- or 2-digit passcodes, open the staff profiles and give the staff member a passcode of at least 3 digits.

Chapter 7. Setting Up Tip Suggestions

1. From the Ready screen, press the left-most function key. This will put you in Standalone mode.

2. The Chase Merchant Services screen will indicate you’re in Standalone mode. You can press the left-most function key at any time to return to integrated mode.

3. Press the # key on the card reader to enter the Admin Menu.

4. Press 3 on the keypad to select Setup.

5. Enter your Manager Password. If you password uses letters, use the F key on the keypad to change your number to a letter. For example, to get P press 7 then F key until a capital P appears. Press the green Enter button when you’ve entered your manager passcode. Chase should have given you a default password.

6. Press 4 on the keypad to select Trans Options.

 

7. Use the rightmost function keys to scroll down.

8. Scroll down to Tip Options and press the center select button.

9. Press 2 on the keypad to select Tip Guide.

10. The suggested tip percentages are coded under TipGuide1 (10%), TipGuide2 (15%), and TipGuide3 (15%). If you want to change one or more, press 2, 3, and/or 4 to select which tip you want to change.

11. In this example, we’ll change the 15% suggestion to 18%. Enter 18 on the PINpad and then press the green Enter button.

12. You’re returned to the Tip Guide setup screen. Select another tip guide “slot” to change or press the red Cancel button several times to return to the standalone Ready screen.

13. Press the leftmost function key to return to the integrated Ready screen.

14. When you start a payment, the iWl220 will now use your edited tip suggestions.

Chapter 8. Troubleshooting

Section 1. Pairing Your Base

Your base should, by default, be paired to your iWL220. However, it is possible the pairing gets lost or the base breaks and you have to use a new base. To pair the iWL220 with the desired base, follow these instructions:

1. From the Ready screen, press the left-most function key. This will put you in Standalone mode.

2. The Chase Merchant Services screen will indicate you’re in Standalone mode. You can press the left-most function key at any time to return to integrated mode.

3. Press the # key on the card reader to enter the Admin Menu.

4. Press 3 on the keypad to select Setup.

5. Enter your Manager Password. If your password uses letters, use the F key on the keypad to change your number to a letter. For example, to get P press 7 then F key until a capital P appears. Press the green Enter button when you’ve entered your manager passcode. Chase should have given you a default password.

6. Press 2 on the keypad to select Communications.

7. Press 4 on the keypad to select Bluetooth.

8. Press 1 on the keypad to select New Base.

9. Put the iWL220 on the terminal you wish to pair and press the green Enter button. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Section 2. Updating the iWL220 Security Certificate

1. From the Ready screen, press the leftmost function key.

2. The Chase Merchant Services screen will indicate you’re in Standalone Mode. You can press the left-most function key at any time to return to integrated mode.

3. Press the # key on the card reader.

4. Press 4 on the PINpad to select Maintenance.

5. Press 1 on the PINpad to select Download.

6. Press 1 on the PINpad to select Download.

7. Your iWL220 will begin downloading the new certificate. This can take about 10 minutes.

8. Press the leftmost function key to return to the integrated Ready screen.

Chapter 9. Setting Up Find by Table or Find by Order Number

The Chase iWL220 can be set to display orders and tables by their table number (table 201) or order name (Debbie’s bar tab) or by their TouchBistro order number (Order 5802). If your iWL220 is not set to display orders the way you want, you can switch. To switch, do the following:

1.  From the Ready screen, press the left-most function key. This will put you in Standalone mode.

2.  The Chase Merchant Services screen will indicate you’re in Standalone mode. You can press the left-most function key at any time to return to integrated mode.

3.  Press the # key on card reader to enter the Admin Menu.

4.  Use the rightmost function keys to scroll down.

5.  Scroll down to Misc. Options. Press 9 on the keypad to select.

6.  Press 1 on the keypad to select iPay@Table.

7.  Press 3 on the keypad to select RMS Type.

8.  Make your selection:

9.  After making your selection, press the red Cancel  cancel button button several times to return to the standalone Ready screen.

10. Press the leftmost function key to return to the integrated Ready screen.
