Setting up and Using iZettle

Chapter 1. Pair Your iPad with Your iZettle Reader Device

1.  On your iPad, tap Settings.

2.  Tap Bluetooth.

3.  If Bluetooth is not enabled, slide Bluetooth to the green position.

4.  On your iZettle Reader, power it on. You’ll find the power switch on the top. Hold it down briefly until the front LCD screen lights up.

5.  If the device is unpaired, it will report it is looking for an iPad.

6.  Hold down the blue Okay button until it prompts you for Bluetooth pairing. Note the device name. It may or may not appear as iZettle 628 for your device.

7.  On your iPad, the iZettle device will soon be found. If for some reason your iPad does not discover it, disable and then re-enable Bluetooth on your iPad. When found, tap it.

8.  Your iPad will indicate a pairing request and give you a confirmation code. Tap Pair.

9.  On your iZettle device, you will see the confirmation code on the LCD screen. Press the Okay button to accept the pairing.

Chapter 2. Pair Your iPad with Your iZettle Card Reader Pro Device

1. On your iPad, tap Settings.

2. Tap Bluetooth.

3. If Bluetooth is not enabled, slide Bluetooth to the green position.

4. On your iZettle device, power it on. You’ll find the power switch on the top. Hold it down briefly until the front LCD screen lights up.

5. You will see a “please wait” message on power up. It will take a few minutes for the device to power up.

6. When you see the Bluetooth symbol in the top right of the LCD screen and the battery level indicator, you are ready to pair the device with your iPad. Press and hold the Bluetooth button.

7. When you see the pairing symbol, release the Bluetooth button.

8. On your iPad, the iZettle device will soon be found. If for some reason your iPad does not discover it, disable and then re-enable Bluetooth on your iPad. When found, tap it.

9. Your iPad will indicate a pairing request and give you a confirmation code. Tap Pair.

10. On your iZettle device, you will see the confirmation code on the LCD screen. Press the Okay button to accept the pairing.

Chapter 3. Setting up Your iZettle on TouchBistro

1. Open your restaurant on TouchBistro.

2. Log in as Admin.

3. Tap Admin | Admin Settings in the top right hand corner.

4. Tap Payment Gateways under Settings.

5. Tap iZettle to enable it. Ensure there’s a checkmark /wp-content/uploads/2014/11/chapter7image004.png indicating it’s enabled.

6. Tap Setup.

7. Enter the email address and password registered with iZettle. Tap Sign In.

8. Your iZettle device will change over to the Ready screen.

9. You can tap Card Readers to see device information.

10. If a firmware update becomes available you can download and install it from this screen.

Chapter 4. Enabling Tipping

1. If you would like to enable tipping via the iZettle device, tap Options.

2. Slide Prompt for Tip to the green position.

3. Tap Save.

Chapter 5. Using iZettle to Take a Simple Payment

1. When you’re ready to accept payment, open the table and tap the Checkout icon.

2. Tap iZettle Payment Terminal under Payment Options.

3. Tap Pay in Full or enter a lesser amount if the customer only wants to pay part of the total via the offered card.

4. If tipping was enabled, you will be prompted to pass the iPad to the customer. Tap Continue.

5. Instruct the customer to select a predefined suggested tip or enter on in the Tip field. The suggested tip percentages are set when configuring your Bill / Guest Check.

6. After selecting tip, TouchBistro will prompt you to complete payment on the iZettle device.

7. The iZettle device will prompt the customer to tap, insert, or swipe the card.

8. If a PIN is required, the iZettle device will prompt the customer to key in the PIN. The customer should press the Okay button to proceed. The Cancel button  (or yellow Back button on the older Card Reader Pro ) can be used to correct a mistyped PIN.

9. The iZettle device will then prompt the customer to remove their card after approval.

10. After removing the card, TouchBistro will print a customer and merchant copy of the credit card receipt. It will also prompt you to close the table. Tap one of the close options.

Chapter 6. Splitting Bills

1. When you’re ready to accept payment, open the table and tap the Checkout icon.

2. Tap Split by Seating. TouchBistro will break out orders by seat in the bottom of the Checkout screen. You can also use Split Evenly By # if customers want to each pay an equal portion of the bill.

3. Tap on whatever bill is to be paid first. Tap Payment Terminal.

4. Tap Pay in Full or enter a lesser amount if the customer only wants to pay part of the total via the offered card.

5. If tipping was enabled, you will be prompted to pass the iPad to the customer. Tap Continue.

6. Instruct the customer to select a predefined suggested tip or enter on in the Tip field. The suggested tip percentages are set when configuring your Bill / Guest Check.

Note: tips left on credit cards are assigned to the owner of the table. If another staff member clocks in and processes the payment, the tip will be assigned to the table owner, not the clocked-in staff member who takes the payment. For example, Sally opens and serves the table. During her break James clocks in and the table asks to pay. James processes the payment. The tip left on the credit card will be assigned to Sally.

7. The iZettle device will prompt the customer to tap, insert, or swipe the card.

8. If a PIN is required, the iZettle device will prompt the customer to key in the PIN. The customer should press the green Okay button to proceed. The Yellow Back button can be used to correct a mistyped PIN.

9. The iZettle device will then prompt the customer to remove their card after approval.

10. After removing the card, TouchBistro will print a customer and merchant copy of the credit card receipt. It will also prompt you to close the bill. Tap one of the close options.

11. The first bill is marked paid and removed from the list of outstanding bills. Tap on the next bill that needs to be paid. Process as a card payment with the Payment Terminal option. If a customer wants to pay cash, you can tap Cash instead.

12. Repeat for the remaining bill. When you’re prompted to close the last bill TouchBistro will also close the table.

Chapter 7. Making a Partial Payment

1. When you’re ready to accept payment, open the table and tap the Checkout icon.

2. Tap iZettle Payment Terminal under Payment Options.

3. Enter the partial payment in the Charge Amount field. Tap Charge.

4. If tipping was enabled, you will be prompted to pass the iPad to the customer. Tap Continue.

5. Enter the amount of tip the customer wants to put on the credit card in the Tip field (if you use one of the suggested tip buttons, it calculates the tip on the partial payment portion). Tap Done.

6. The iZettle device will prompt the customer to tap, insert, or swipe the card.

7. If a PIN is required, the iZettle device will prompt the customer to key in the PIN. The customer should press the green Okay button to proceed. The Yellow Back button can be used to correct a mistyped PIN.

8. The iZettle device will then prompt the customer to remove their card after approval.

9. You will be returned to the checkout screen. The bill remains open. It will display the remaining balance and all the currently applied payments. Tap a payment option like Cash to pay off the balance of the bill.

Chapter 8. Performing a Refund

1. If you have not closed your business day, tap Orders from the floor plan.

2. Tap the All Closed Bills tab and locate the bill you wish to refund. Tap it’s associated Information /wp-content/uploads/2014/11/chapter4image019.png icon.

3. Tap View/Edit Payments.

4. On the Edit Payments screen, tap the Information /wp-content/uploads/2014/11/chapter4image019.png icon associated with the credit card payment you wish to refund.

5. Tap Perform Full Credit Card Refund.

6. Enter your iZettle password. This is the same password you used to set up your device. Tap Confirm.

7. Tap OK on the approval dialog box.

8. You’ll notice the order is still there. Tap the Information swcorimage039 Correcting Integrated Payment Errors icon again.

Section 1. Creating a Return Invoice and Balancing your Sales

Although you’ve voided or refunded the payment, TouchBistro does not delete the actual bill. You need to balance a voided/refunded bill with a bill indicating a sale return. So tap the Information  icon associated with the bill you voided/refunded and tap Return Sale.

1.  After tapping Return Sale, TouchBistro creates the returned sale invoice under My Bar Tabs. So tap that.

2  The return sale invoice is automatically named after the bill number of the voided or returned bill. In this example, created a Return Sale invoice for bill 9242. To look for the tab named 9242 Return Sale. Tap it to open it.

3.  When you open the return sale invoice, you will notice all items in the voided bill are negative quantities. As well TouchBistro correctly calculates the returned tax. Tap the Checkout icon to close out this return invoice.

4.  Tap the Non-Integrated Credit Refund option.

5. Tap the card type that was refunded (for example MasterCard).

6. Tap Full Refund.

7. Close the sales return invoice.

8. Your end of day will properly reflect the original bill and the matching void/return. In the example pictured above, we’ll assume we’ve only performed a single transaction for the day. An order for $39.52 which was then voided and matched with a $39.52 return.

Chapter 9. Location Sharing

iZettle needs to have your iPad’s location sharing turned on as well as location sharing enable for the TouchBistro App. To double check this, see this link.

Chapter 10. Locking TouchBistro to One iZettle User Account

If you ever need to switch accounts on the fly, you can tap the Information icon on the payment screen and log in using an alternative iZettle account. However, if you only use one iZettle account, you should lock TouchBistro to your single iZettle account to prevent unauthorized account switching. To do this:

1. Tap Options.

2. Slide Enforce User Account to the green position. Enter the email address of you use to log into your iZettle account.

3. Tap Save.
