Processing a Gift Card with the iPP320 version 11

Chapter 1. Introduction

Gift cards are only supported by Moneris Canada.

Chapter 2. Processing

1. Tap Gift Card.

2. Tap Pay in Full or enter in a custom amount and tap Charge.

3. You will prompt you to slide the gift card through the iPP320 PIN pad.

4. Press the green Enter  button.

5. Enter the card’s CVC. It should be found on the back or the front. Press the green Enter  button.

6. If your iPP320 version 11 was set up for tipping, you will be presented with the tip screen. Press F1 to select a dollar amount tip or F4 to select a percentage tip.

7. Enter the dollar or percentage tip amount and then press the green Enter  button..

8. Press the green Enter  button.

9. Keep pressing the green Enter  button to bypass the next three screens. No user input is required.

10. The iPP320 will process and approve the transaction.

11. TouchBistro will print a customer and merchant copy with the remaining gift card balance on both copies. Both copies also print a reference number. This number is required for refunding balances.

12. Close the order and print the guest check.

13. Likewise the guest check also has the gift card balance and the reference number required for a refund.

Chapter 3. Manually Processing a Gift Card

If you have a PIN Pad but need to process a gift card manually, do the following:

1. Tap the Information  icon associated with Gift Card.

2. Tap Manual Entry.

3. You will be prompted to enter the card number and the CVC security code printed on the back of the gift card.

4. Tap Next.

5. Tap Pay in Full or enter in a custom amount and tap Charge.

6. Close the order and print the guest check.

Chapter 4. Managing the Gift Card

You can activate/add funds to a gift card, process a refund onto the gift card (return a dollar amount to the card), or view a gift card’s balance from the checkout.

1. To access the Gift Cards options menu, tap the Information  icon associated with the Gift Card link.

2. When you select a gift card option, TouchBistro will prompt you to swipe the gift card.

Note: All gift card activity (activations/balance additions/balance checks/refunds) are logged on the Gift Card Activity Report.

Section 1. Activate or Reload Gift Card

Activating or reloading a gift card requires Manager approval. If the user is not a manager, they will see a Manager Confirmation screen first before they are shown the Activation/Reload screen.

To activate/reload a card:

1. Tap Activate/Reload Gift Card.

2. Enter the amount you wish to add to the card and tap Confirm.

3. TouchBistro prompts you to attend to the PIN pad.

4. Swipe the card you want to active or add additional funds to.

5. Enter the card’s CVC. It should be found on the back or the front. Press the green Enter  button.

6. Keep pressing the green Enter  button to bypass the next three screens. No user input is required.

7. The iPP320 will process and approve the transaction.

8. TouchBistro will verify the amount on screen. Tap OK.

9. TouchBistro will print a customer and merchant copy of the balance update/activation indicating both amount added to the card and the final balance.

Section 2. Processing a refund amount back onto a gift card

If a purchase was made with a gift card and you need to process a return and refund the purchase price back onto the gift card, follow these steps:

1. Tap Gift Card Return.

2. TouchBistro will display the Gift Card Refund screen. Enter the amount you wish to put back onto the card and enter the reference number from the gift card purchase receipt (merchant or customer copy). Do not complete the card number or CVC fields. Tap Refund.

3. Confirm the refund amount.

4. TouchBistro prompts you to attend to the PIN pad.

5. Swipe the card used to pay for the bill.

7. Enter the card’s CVC. It should be found on the back or the front. Press the green Enter  button.

8. Keep pressing the green Enter  button to bypass the next three screens. No user input is required.

9. The iPP320 will process and approve the refund.

10. TouchBistro indicates the amount refunded and the new balance.

Note: Similar to activating a gift card, performing a refund for a gift card requires Manager approval. If the user is not a manager, they will see a Manager Confirmation screen first before they are shown the refund screen.

Section 3. View remaining balance on gift card

If you wish to check a gift card’s balance before processing it follow these steps:

1. Tap View Balance.

2. TouchBistro prompts you to attend to the PIN pad.

3. Swipe the card.

4. The iPP320 will display the balance.

5. TouchBistro will also display the balance. Tap OK.
