TouchBistro Loyalty – Managing Rewards

Introduction

TouchBistro Loyalty offers several different types of rewards. These form the basis for all rewards that guests earn through spend based loyalty, item-based clubs, campaign offers, and subscriptions.

Managing Rewards

1. Login to your loyalty dashboard.

2. Click Manage Loyalty.

3. Click the Rewards tab.

4. You will see a list of existing rewards for your restaurant group.

5. To make changes to an existing reward, click the Edit button associated with the reward.

6. To create a new reward, click the Create New Rewards button.

Note: Manage POS Discount is not used with TouchBistro POS.

Create New Rewards

1. Click the Create New Rewards button.

2. Complete the following:

Name

Enter the name of the reward (guests will see this).

Type

Select one of the following reward types:

MANUAL REWARDS: This type is not currently supported by TouchBistro.

CHECK DISCOUNTS – FIXED $: A fixed dollar discount off the check. This discount can be redeemed regardless of the items on the check. However, you can specify PROHIBITED items. A common example is not allowing guests to redeem discounts on alcohol or the purchase of gift cards. If the subtotal of the check MINUS any prohibited items is LESS than the discount, a lower discount will be applied to the check.

CHECK DISCOUNTS – PERCENTAGE: A percentage discount off the check. Similar to Check Discounts – Fixed $ you can specify PROHIBITED items that will not be included when calculating the discount value.

ITEM DISCOUNTS – FIXED $: A fixed dollar discount off a specific item(s). A qualifying item MUST be on the check. TouchBistro Loyalty automatically determines the most expensive qualifying item and calculates the discount value based on that item.

ITEM DISCOUNTS – PERCENTAGE: A percentage discount off a specific item(s). A qualifying item MUST be on the check. TouchBistro Loyalty automatically determines the most expensive qualifying item and calculates the discount value based on that item.

BUY ONE, GET ONE: A percentage discount off a specific item(s) as long as another qualifying item has been purchased. BOTH one Buy and one Get qualifying item MUST be on the check. You can specify different items for the Buy items vs the Get items. For example, you can offer a reward for buy a sandwich, get a sandwich free but you can also offer a reward for buying an entree, get 50% off a dessert by selecting different items for Buy vs Get and setting the discount percentage. TouchBistro Loyalty automatically determines the most expensive qualifying item and calculates the discount value based on that item.

Points

If you want this reward to be redeemable for points, indicate how many points will it cost the guest. If this reward is set up to be used exclusively by an item-based loyalty program or promotion, leave the Point field set to 0.

Max Dollar Discount (for Fixed $)

What is the maximum discount this guest should receive when redeeming this reward?

Discount Percentage (for Percentage)

What percentage discount this guest should receive when redeeming this reward?

Description

A description of this reward. For item-based rewards and rewards that will be available at limited days, times & locations – we suggest alerting guests to these limitations using the description field.

3. When finished creating the reward, click the Save button.

4. You’ll then be prompted to edit additional information for this reward:

Active

Should this reward be active and available for guests to redeem? Uncheck this box to make it inactive so guests can no longer redeem it.

Availability

If this reward can be claimed any day or time, set to Yes.

If you would like to limit this reward being claimed to certain days or times, click No and then click Reward Availability.

Locations

By default, Loyalty will include all locations (if you have more than one). Click the Select Restaurant button to disable one or more restaurants. If disabled, customers at those venues will not be able to claim this reward.

5. Scroll to the bottom. Click Advanced Settings and review:

Allow guests to redeem during in-store visits

This defaults to true. Unchecking this box will not allow a guest to redeem this reward in-store (often unchecked if the reward should just be available for online ordering)

Allow guests to redeem during online ordering

This defaults to true. Unchecking this box will not allow guests to redeem this reward when they are ordering online through TouchBistro Loyalty powered online ordering.

6. Depending on your reward type you will see one or more buttons allowing to set up items that apply or don’t apply to this reward:

Prohibited Items

This button will only appear for Check Based Rewards and are OPTIONAL. Prohibited items will be subtracted from the subtotal before the discount value is determined. For example, if beer is set as a prohibited item and a guest tries to apply a $10 check-level discount to a $15 check but $10 of that check is comprised of beer, only a $5 discount will be applied to the check.

Applicable Items

This button will only appear for Item Based Rewards. If no Applicable Items are selected for item-based rewards, guests will never be able to redeem that reward. TouchBistro Loyalty will find the most expensive applicable item on a check and use it to determine the discount value.

Buy Items

This button will only appear for Buy One, Get One Rewards. If no Buy Items are selected, guests will never be able to redeem that reward. A guest must have a Buy Item on the check-in order to redeem this reward (in addition to a Get Item).

Get Items

This button will only appear for Buy One, Get One Rewards. If no Get Items are selected, guests will never be able to redeem that reward. A guest must have a Get Item on the check-in order to redeem this reward (in addition to a Buy Item).

Viewing Your Inactive Rewards

If you’ve made a reward inactive, it has not been deleted from the system. Merely moved to the Inactive tab.

Click Inactive to view list of offline rewards. If you want to reactivate a reward, simply click the Edit button associated with the reward you want to revive.

To reactivate, simply click the Active checkbox and then click Save.
